What These Sites Are

Project-gwella.fit and herebedragons.cymru are personal writing and documentation projects. They form part of an autoethnographic research programme undertaken alongside a BA Hons in Contemporary Outdoor Leadership at the University of Central Lancashire. The content is personal experience honestly documented — not instruction, not guidance, and not professional advice of any kind.

Everything here is one person's account of their own process. It should be read in that spirit.

Health, Medical and Rehabilitation Content

These sites document a personal recovery programme following a cerebellar stroke in 2018, including the progressive return to technically demanding outdoor activity. They also document a daily Qigong and Tai Chi practice within that rehabilitation framework.

Nothing on these sites constitutes medical advice. Descriptions of physical practice, rehabilitation approaches, or health-related experience are personal accounts only. They are not recommendations, protocols, or substitutes for qualified medical assessment and treatment.

If you are considering any form of physical rehabilitation or exercise programme following illness, injury, or cardiac event, consult a qualified medical professional before you begin.

Outdoor Activities

Content on these sites describes personal engagement with technical mountaineering, sea kayaking, and other outdoor pursuits. Descriptions of routes, techniques, conditions, or equipment are not instruction. They are not a substitute for formal training, qualifications, or the guidance of a competent and appropriately qualified leader.

Mountain environments and open water are inherently hazardous. Conditions change. Personal capability varies. What is written here reflects one person's experience at a particular point in time and should not be applied to your own situation without proper assessment.

The author holds professional qualifications in mountain leadership and paddlesports instruction. These sites do not constitute professional instruction and are not a delivery vehicle for that professional practice.

Autoethnographic and Research Content

This work is autoethnographic in nature — meaning the researcher is simultaneously the subject of the research. Conclusions drawn, interpretations offered, and frameworks explored are provisional and personal. They are part of an ongoing inquiry, not finished findings.

The conversation archive generated between the author and Claude (Anthropic) across multiple semesters constitutes primary research data for this project. Readers encountering that material should understand it as documented thinking-in-process, not as authoritative analysis.

Artificial Intelligence

These sites document the explicit and transparent use of AI (specifically Claude by Anthropic) as a research and writing tool. AI has been used to develop ideas, draft and redraft content, and maintain a searchable archive of the research process. All content published on these sites has been reviewed, edited, and approved by the author. Where AI has contributed substantially to a piece, this is noted.

The use of AI here is itself a subject of the research — not a shortcut, but a documented methodological choice.

Bilingual Content

Both sites operate bilingually in Welsh and English. Welsh text is reviewed by a native Welsh speaker before publication. Errors may still exist. Welsh is used here as a living language, not decoration — corrections from Welsh speakers are welcomed.

Occasionally these sites link to external sources — books, research, other practitioners' work. These links are provided in good faith. The author has no control over the content of external sites and does not endorse everything found there. Links do not constitute affiliation or sponsorship unless explicitly stated.

Unless otherwise stated, all written content on these sites is the original work of Jameson Selby and is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 International licence. You are welcome to quote, share, or build on this work for non-commercial purposes, provided you credit the source.

Photographs and other media may carry different rights and are noted individually where relevant.
